10 Thoughts I Had Whilst Watching Exodus

I'm honestly not a movie person. Sitting down to watch 2 hours plus of movie shenanigans is generally too much for me. But this holiday my fambam *read mother dearest* has been dragging me to the movie theatres and we ended up watching Exodus. I don't want to spoil it too much for anyone who hasn't seen it but here are some thoughts I had while watching it. Smh running commentary is necessary in all African-family-movie-watching activities.

1) Oh oquay Pharoah, you werq that winged eyeliner
2) Ughhh why is Moses so cute? Stop it Christian Bale?!/11
3) Smh Moses where ya staff at?
4) Oh I like her tattoos.. hella cute hella cute
5) Smh these sheep are so annoying like why are yall climbing this mountain in the rain?11
6) Wait. When does Abraham come in?
7) Oh wait nvm I know where we are chronologically.
8) Smh I need to go read Genesis and Exodus again.
9) Oh okay so these plagues are so horrible I can't even right now.
10) I never wanna be on God's bad side yo.

Its a generally good movie, but there were so many inaccuracies but I think I'll talk about that in a later post. Have you seen it? Are you planning on seeing it? Yes? No? Maybe?

And yet, I am the God who forgives your sins, and I do this because of who I am. I will not hold your sins against you. Isaiah 43:25 (How absolutely fantastic, amazing, and awesome is our God? In fact too fantastic, amazing and awesome)

Film Adventures

I own a Canon AE-1 Program SLR camera, which I LITERALLY scored for like 15 bucks at a garage sale. #bestdayofmylife. kidding. I've been *teaching* myself how to use it because I apparently forgot that the internet can help you with literally anything. Needless to say, the first two rolls were mostly awful. ANYWAYS. I'm on my 3rd roll of film and they're from this summer in Ghana! :)

#thegrainlifechoseme. Alsoooo its almost Christmas! Super duper stoked for this year's because the famalam is going to be real quickly and real slicky reunited. *fist pumpssss*

What are you looking forward to this Christmas? :D I wanna hear 'bout it :)

On Intentionality

So apparently its December and I'm halfway (ish) through my gap year. I've honestly been feeling like I've accomplished approximately -384.4820 things on my to-do-over-this-gap-year list. Why am I pretending like I'm on summer break and sleeping in and not going to "work" is acceptable? Like who do I even think I am? I'm genuinely confused.

So today was one of those *ahem* sleep in days and I felt horrible because srsly what are you even doing with yourself Norkor. ugh.I decided that from TOMORROW, I'm going to be intentional about everything I need to do. I'm done sleeping in when people are out there pursuing Jesus intentionally, chasing their dreams and just TRULY living life. Sleeping is so 5 months ago aka summer break.

I spent a nice chunk of the afternoon outside on the porch because it was nice and sunny. I ended up doing some artsy fartsy stuff to motivate myself. I didn't want to say I'd start being intentional when 2015 rolls around because then I'd continue to give myself an excuse to sleep in and do nothing.

SO. I'm going to be intentional about:
 - spending time with God, praying, reading the Bible, meditating.
 - Going to volunteer at New Life every morning!
 - Eating right and working out. THIS ONE IS THE HARDEST.

I'm sure this list can grow but that's all I have for now. Is there anything YOU want to start being intentional about? I want to know about yo. Fah real. ALSO. Casual reminder that you are loved. Mhm.

Surrender yourselves entirely as slaves of righteousness for holy purposes. - Romans 6:19

Long Weekend Shenanigans

It literally feels like its been 9493928493 years since I've last written, but in actuality its literally been 4 days. Awkward. Shmawkward. Get yourself together Norkor. I'm trying, I'm trying. This is a really random post, but these photos are kinda lovely so why naht you know?

Highlights from this week:

 - Got to spend time with sweet baby John at the babies home where I volunteer. I sorta talked about that here. Ugh my baby is growing so fast like lol John stop trying to walk what are you doinnnnng.

 - I got to meet the president of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, which was hella rad because who gets to meet their president on any given day? BUT YEA. He's really chill and just an all together nice person. I also casually remembered that he can't fix all our country's problems because he is literally just a normal human being with flaws so

- Long weekends mean sleeping in and messy buns and sweatpants all day. Just kidding that happens all the time.

- We put up our Christmas tree and danced around the house to Justin Beiber and some other booty-poppin' Christmas music. Sorry, not sorry.

Is it a little too obvious that I reaaaally like flowers? Please just call me Florist Norkor because yes. Okay bye. #laterskater

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12-14

This Is Want We Need ... Mercy.

[the title of this post comes from this lovely song}

I've been feeling really discouraged about all the things that are currently happening in this world. It's kind of a wake up call / reminder that human beings are seriously broken and are in need of God's mercy. It reminds me of Cello from Portland by Beautiful Eulogy. I've been debating whether to address that on the blog or just skip over it and write a light-hearted post, but then I remembered that it's my blog and I can actually do what I want *flips hair*

So yea, we are in need of  God's grace every single millisecond of every day and with the way things are going right now I just don't know. I think a lot of intercessory prayer and just crying out to God to save us from ourselves is needed ASAP. That then reminds me of Satisfied in You by the Sing Team and Psalm 42:11 which says "Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God."  It's really easy to push out the terrible things that are going on in this world and continue to live our lovely, VSCOcam filtered lives, but I don't think that's what God needs us to do. But that's a whole different post.

I can't really explain the feelings that are currently running through so I'm going to stop there.

In other news, remember this post? Well that new found passion / shop has been put on hold because I don't have a sewing machine and hand-stitching and I aren't quite the best of friends. Like I literally hate hand-stitching. It makes me not enjoy the work that I'm doing. So, once I get a sewing machine [ I REALLY WANT THIS ONE], which are apparently hella expensive in Africa, I'll be able to set up shop.

Have you been feeling burdened and/or downcast with all the horrible things that are happening around the world? It physically hurts my heart to hear of such things. How are you coping? Are there any Bible verses that are helping you get through this?

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. - Psalms 42:1
